Jennifer Mouzis is a Sacramento-based attorney and the owner of Mouzis Criminal Defense. Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a minor in history, from the University of California, Davis. Jennifer attended McGeorge School of Law, graduating with Great Distinction and Order of the Coif in 1998. In her third year of law school, and while holding a part-time position at the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office, Jennifer became pregnant with her daughter, Maya. After a complicated pregnancy, Maya was born two months before Jennifer graduated, and five months before the California Bar Examination. Jennifer then accepted a position at the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney, a position she held until 2007 when she transitioned into private practice. After 24 years of practice, Jennifer founded When There Are Nine out of a sincere desire to bring more young women, of all backgrounds, to the legal profession, to help those women seeking legal professional assistance from her sisters, and to address the inequalities still faced by women in the law. Jennifer has two beautiful daughters and six amazing nieces. When There Are Nine was created to make the law a better, more equitable, and inviting place for her daughters, nieces, and all the intelligent, diverse, and driven young women like them.
